This is a new wiki and really should be left to my wife. She works on the basis that you must have a holiday booked for the future before you can go on the next one. \ I will split this wiki between NZ an everywhere else New Zealand Holidays

We have done many trips around NZ (see motorcycle_trips for starters) and still consider we are on holiday even though we have to work in between times. Even in winter we still get out most Sundays on the bikes or in the soft-top to visit some new place, although we are running out of places within a daytrip. A traveling holiday here is a choice between using a car (or bike) or a camper van. Camper vans can park overnight in out of way places or park cheaper at the holiday parks, but cost more to hire or buy. A car can be rented from about $25 per day upwards and then you have the choice of accommodation, from camping to motels

New Zealand roads are mostly single carriageway will lots of hills and bends, motorways only exist around Auckland. Distance covered in a day is much much less than can be achieved on the European road system. Max. speed limit is 100Kms/hour, often 80, through towns 50 to 70 (see Driving in NZ (Including Fuel prices)) I will put up some interesting places to visit in the future, but first have a look at Awikino and Ohura, Feb. 2009, and Christmas 2009 Travels to Gisborne and Hawkes Bay and Five week trip to South Island (Feb/March 2010)

I suppose the first place to mention is Aus. the gold coast is equivalent to Spain, Brisbane being the main centre, but of course all Aus. cities are within easy reach, except Perth.
